About this list
Element matchups decide boss fights more than raw stats do. Palworld uses nine elements, and the chart is mostly a single chain, which makes it easy to learn: Fire beats Grass and Ice, Water beats Fire, Electric beats Water, Ground beats Electric, Grass beats Ground, Ice beats Dragon, Dragon beats Dark and Dark beats Neutral. Neutral hits nothing for bonus damage and is only weak to Dark. An effective hit deals double damage and a resisted one half. Two practical points. The damage type comes from the skill, not the Pal: a Fire Pal using a Water skill deals Water damage, though a Pal deals about 20% extra damage with skills of its own element. And a dual-element Pal, such as a Water and Dragon Pal, can be hit hard through either element's weakness. Each element page lists all its Pals, sorted by Attack, so you can pick a counter quickly.
Next step: get the child of any two Pals, every parent combo and the shortest breeding path in the Palworld breeding calculator.
