How does mutation work in Palworld?
#When an egg is laid, the game rolls once for a mutation: 1% with a normal Cake. A mutated egg hatches a different, lower-ranked species than the normal child, with IVs of 90 or more, 2 condensation stars and one of five passives that only mutations give: Babysitter, Heavily Armored, Idiosyncratic, Immortality, Sky Strider.
A Vegetable Cake lays two eggs per breeding and each egg rolls on its own, so it doubles your tries; the Extravagant Vegetable Cake raises the chance per egg instead.

How does the calculator predict the species? (experimental)
#Experimental (community model) Which species a mutated egg becomes is not published by the game. The calculator uses a community reverse-engineered model built on the game's mutation settings (rank coefficient 0.5, random coefficient 0.1, rank-difference penalty 0.4): with C the breeding power of the normal child, the mutation favours Pals whose breeding power is near half of C, and only Pals ranked between 0.3 × C and C can appear. Legendaries are left out. Treat the species odds as an estimate; the 1% / 3% rates and the IV, star and passive facts are confirmed.
