The Pal Surgery Table is the shortcut around bad luck. Instead of breeding generation after generation for one missing passive, you can write it straight onto a Pal. It is expensive and it can't do everything, so it works best alongside breeding, not instead of it.
Unlocking the table
| Technology Level | 38 |
| Technology Points | 3 |
| Materials | 30 Refined Ingots, 20 High Quality Cloth, 10 Corrosive Solvent |
What it can do
- Add a passive to an empty slot (a Pal holds up to four).
- Replace a passive in an occupied slot, which is how you get rid of a negative one like Brittle or Slacker.
- Change gender, useful when your best parent is the same gender as your second-best.
A standard operation with an implant costs 50,000 Gold. Budget for it: it adds up quickly if you are fixing a whole team.
Where implants come from
| Source | What you get | Price |
|---|---|---|
| The table itself | A default set of 14 common implants (Brave, Serious, Nimble and more) | free with the unlock |
| Bounty Officer | Artisan, Musclehead, Burly Body, Vanguard, Stronghold Strategist, Motivational Leader, Wellness Watcher | 15 Successful Bounty Tokens each |
| Arena Merchant | Serenity, Infinite Stamina, Runner, Ace Swimmer, Noble, Healing Coach, Reload Master | 50 Battle Tickets each |
| Ancient Relic Recycler (Tech Level 74) | One-use (disposable) implants, including some rainbow passives, from processed Ancient Relics | Ancient Relics |
Bounty Tokens come from hunting wanted criminals; Battle Tickets come from arena wins. Disposable implants are new in 1.0: the patch notes describe them as a way to give Pals more powerful passive skills at the operating table.
What it can't do
- Legend and some other top passives can't be implanted. Plan to breed these. Our inheritance guide shows the cleanest route.
- It won't change stats (talents/IVs). For those, see IVs and talents.
- It isn't a bulk delete. You overwrite one slot per operation.
Breeding or surgery?
Use surgery when:
- one passive is missing on an otherwise finished Pal;
- the missing passive is one you own an implant for (Artisan on a worker, Runner or Infinite Stamina on a mount);
- the Pal has one bad passive you want gone.
Use breeding when:
- you need Legend, Lucky or another passive with no implant;
- you are building many copies (breeding scales, 50,000 Gold per operation does not);
- you also want better talents, which only breeding (and Mushroom or Extravagant Vegetable Cake) improves.
The efficient endgame loop is: breed a clean two- or three-passive Pal, then finish the last slot at the table.
Good implant targets
- Base workers: Artisan (+50% work speed) is the headline Bounty Officer buy; Serious is in the default set.
- Mounts: Runner and Infinite Stamina from the Arena Merchant; Nimble from the default set.
- Combat: Musclehead from the Bounty Officer for raw Attack (it costs work speed, which a fighter doesn't need).
